Sotogrande was developed in the early 60’s based on 1800 hectares of farmland in Southern Andalusia, called Campo de Gibraltar. But in Roman times the area had a different name – BARBESULA, hence the name of our restaurant.

Restaurant Barbesula has an underlying Roman theme but a menu which is truly Mediteranean. It is the elegant place to dine in Sotogrande with superb food, great service and a unique ambience.
Restaurant Barbesula has it all – for indoor and outdoor dining. The patio is simply stunning and is usually warm enough to dine outside in the evening from late May until mid September. Indoors the restaurant is open all year round except for January.

Under the guiding hand of our restaurant manager Olivier de Paepe our well trained team of staff provide an attentive yet unobtrusive service. Olivier was previously restaurant manger at the famous Valderama Golf Course, host to the 1997 Ryder Cup.
